- Stirring Tool
- Coffee Vessel
(18gm Ground Coffee)
Methods:
Methods:
- Boil approximately 200ml water with your digital kettle. Weigh about 18grams coffee. Ground Coffee size here should be slightly finer than sea salt.
- Insert a paper filter into AeroPress detachable plastic cap.
- Use some of the hot water to wet both your filter and cap.* We would avise to hold the cap by its “ears” and pour the water very slowly so it can be absorbed by the filter
*Hot water here serves a dual function: it helps the filter adhere to the cap, and heats your brewing vessel - Assemble your AeroPress. Make sure the entire assembly is dry.
- Place on top of scale with the flared end up and tare the weight.
- Add ground coffee. Try not to spill any ground into the ring-shaped gutter at the top of AeroPress.
- Start your timer. Add twice the weight of water (e.g., for 16 grams coffee, add 32 ml water). The water should be about 93 celcius.
- Make sure the coffee is saturated evenly, tamping slightly with the paddle or butter knife if necessary. Let sit for 30 seconds.
- Use the remainder of hot water to fill the chamber.
- After a minute, stir grounds 10 times to agitate.
- Fasten the cap, ensuring it locks nicely. Flip AeroPress over with haste and control. Position it on top your brew vessel and begin applying a downward pressure. You will experience some resistance here*. Your coffee will be fully brewed once it begins to make a hissing sound. This means there is no more water to push through the device.
*If pushing feels too easy, your grind is too coarse. If it is very hard to push, your grin is too fine. - Once you have unscrewed the cap, you can pop out the filter and coffee puck by pushing AeroPress’s interior section the final inch.
